Posted - 03/11/2004 : 21:04:06 Well, if they release it to beta testers by summer, maybe it will be around when you say, yes.

Posted - 03/11/2004 : 20:50:37 no...dx9 has all of what dx8 has, but with a couple more features pretty much.
as for dx10, it's not going anywhere any time soon. just now dx9 is starting to get used...so until dx10 is used it will be at least 2 more years...and by then if you save up $5 a week you'll have more than enough for a new graphics card. the rv420 core isn't going to be dx10, so the first dx10 core will be the next model or the one after that....sort of far away.

Posted - 03/11/2004 : 19:05:08 I'm a MS DirectX Beta tester. I have been beta testing DirectX since version 7.
Pretty soon they are fixin to release version 10 to us. I'd say by summer time.

Posted - 03/11/2004 : 18:35:43 One of my friends was bugging me about this though. Don't the dx8 cards give you way way more frames than the dx9 ones? I don't actually know what I'm talking about here, just trying to remember what was explained to me. I also remember some people making fun of me for being a gamer and going with the higher frames over the prettier textures...

Posted - 03/11/2004 : 16:50:46 still...even if T:V is dx8, you will want a dx9 game sooner or later.

Posted - 03/10/2004 : 22:34:06 I'm planning less for HL2 and more for T:V. Of course, T:V might be in the same boat. I dunno.
