A sequel never felt so good. I missed an opportunity to see it today. Now I have to wait for the weekend. I'm sure some of you saw it on opening day.

Ahh...the Goodkind series. The first two books rocked. After that it was all downhill. I am almost ready to abandon old Terry after that book from his (Richard's) sister's point of view. Well, unless he puts out another good one that is.

Yay D&D. Mallak, you're in the same boat as every other long-time player. But I find that making up monsters for the players is one of the best parts. And it keeps the rules lawyer players guessing. I mad eit, so I know what it does, right? lol.

It's "Warg" with an A

I know quite a bit about that type of stuff too

I am a repository for all things in this department. If I don't know it, I'll find out fast like. <- AD&D for a long long time. We got bored w/ the same old monsters, so we used ones from stories we heard, or read, or just made up. Ever read Goodkind? A Gar is a nasty suprise is a dark alley, or a light one for that matter.

I haven't read the Silmarilion yet. But you're right, now I remember those from the Hobbit. I knew they came from the Tolkien universe but couldn't remember where. Thanks.

Worgs. Goblin wolves. It's like a bear, a wolf, and a heyena, with just a pinch of completely insane tossed in. Worg Riders, thats what treed the dwarves and bilbo in the hobbit. If you like the lord of the rings trilogy, and want more depth, read The Silmirilion

i did notice, however, at the end, it said "based on the books", so its not supposed to be an exact depiction of the books... if that helps any. the movie was great as a movie, one of the best ive ever seen, but do not expect the books laid out on screen.

Cueball13 Posted - 12/21/2002 : 16:24:00
Yes, if you take the books as your Bible, you will be screaming "Herecy!". But, still a good movie. And wtf were those tiger horse things? And since when did Aragorn....well, if you saw the movie, you know what happened to him. But that's typical Hollywood...have to have romance and drama, even if it means "reinterpreting" the classics.

having read the books 3 times, i must say that i am really really mad. it was a great movie, but they had no right to call it the two towers. it wasnt anything like the book. they took out half the book and inserted a new half that wasnt even close to the books. gollum was great, ill give them that, and helms deep was cool, except i was wondering what the hell the elves were doing there. i was very close to walking out of the movie because it was so innaccurate. if you love the books, as i do, dont go to the movie expecting the books. go to it as u would any other movie and youll love it.

well worth the year long wait, i can watch massive siege battles for days at a time, i never get tired of it. the ents were pretty good, fangorn has green eyes, not yellow. they left out quickbranch, they have a couple lil differnece here and there, like not mentioning Elrond isn't actually an Elf (he is half-elf), and can't go to the undying lands, thus, neither can his daughter. they did a spectacular job in Helms Deep, and Smeagol. The Black Gate of Bara Dur was really good, looks perfect, even showed some mechanics. over all, ill give it a 10, because, no director or movie crew can ever do justice to the human imagination.

**I was really amused that the kid behind me described the Nazgul, a monster thought up over 50 years ago by an old english man as ... "Siiick!"

I realise now that I am easily brainwashed (oh, wait, I knew that already) and very confusing. My last post confuses me even, and I subconsciously used words from previous posts (see incidently).

Helm's Deep. That's it! I remembered the name, but I thought it was coming from that D&D universe that Neverwinter Nights is based in...which, incidently, I can not remember the name of...I recall that now as being Helm's Hold...

Helm's Deep, which, incidentally, is one of the coolest battle scenes in cinema history. It's absolutley awesome. The movie was long, but not necessarily boring. I thought it was really good.

What? I remember the second book as being the boring setup for the third book. Alliances are made, troops are raised, yada yada. There were only two battles that I remember, taking that evil wizards city withy the Ents (long time since I read the book, names are fuzzy at best) and some battle at like skulls deep or some jazz like that...

I saw it. Gollum was great. The Ents were pretty good. There was a bit more straying from the original story line than in the Fellowship, but it was still fairly true to Tolkien. Much more battle than the other, but that's how the book was, too.

On the whole, the movie was awesome. I'm not going to rant and rave about it like some pubescent fanboy; but I will say that as a whole, I enjoyed the Two Towers even more than I did the Fellowship. A must see at the theatre!

That's a good rule. Especially since they left a few important plot scenes out of the main movie. You almost need to have read the book to follow...

Get the extended edition of the Fellowship. 3.5 hours, 1/2 of which is completely new, rescored, and fully integrated into the movie. It's great. Oh, and you're not allowed to see the movies til you've read the books.
