Infinum labs plans to develop a video game system named the phantom and it is expected to launch in december. It claims to be able to play titles across different platforms from Xbox to PS2 to Gamecube. Also for online play with broadband connection with cross-platform matches with PC.
However, this would be stealing from the major corporations i.e. Microsoft, sony, and ninetendo. True?
Anyone heard of this?

The whole thing is very suspect, as there's little to no evidence to support the developers' claims. Their website says nothing, and their only screens are of 3d renderings (granted, they could have it virtually complete inside without a final model worked up). And from what little news is available, it's simply a computer that allows you to rent/demo/buy/play games from a broadband connection. As far as playing all console games, it all depends on what they can get licensed. PC games will be easy...basically what the original XBox plan was thought to be. But getting PS2, etc games is different, and I doubt they'll get manufacturer support. There've already been several successful suits re: emulators and roms.

Even if it does deliver on what it says, it just doesn't seem too appealing to me.
