Ok, I'm building a new computer. I want a nice video card (duh) I want to know what you guys think the best one out there is. I've heard that ATI cards are poopy and not to waste my money. I'd just like some feedback, thanks!

The person who told you that was an nvidia fanboi. It is more a matter of preference. There is nothing terribly wrong with ATI cards.

And what card you get depends on what you want to do with it, and how much money you intend on spending.

probably a bit easier to have a nvidia card working with t2. theres been scattered reports of poeple having graphics problems with t2, 32-bit textures and anti-ailiasing (tho there is a script to fix the aa problem)

that said, ive got a 9600 now and im quite happy with it (could say the same thing about my tnt2 tho)

Anyone had any problems with either ati cards or nvidia cards? I'm not exactly a computer genius, and I know I'll get a million different answers, but at least I'll have a little bit more idea what I'm getting myself into. Thanks

Are you planning on playing Doom3? Tribes: Vengeance? Half-Life 2?

Or will this just be a card to pimp out T2?

my personal favorite at the moment is the ATI Radeon 9800pro 128MB. It runs about $200 and can play all the newest games with no problem.

If you want to play tribes:vengence, you'd probably want at least a 9600pro or a fx5700 or something.

Soo...how much you willing to spend? The hottest card out there will run you about $500. The cheapest card you can get to play T:V and hl2 would probably run you about $80.

These guys pretty much nailed it. Only thing I can Tell you is make sure you have a big enough PSU (power supply unit). Like maybe no lower then a 380watts. 400 to 450 watts is better. Plus make sure that the psu is stamped with "true power" logo.

When I installed my ATI 9700pro card, my system started doing randomed reboots at anytime. Thats a real pain when your running away with the flag.

Believe me...
