See? Here is a topic Cal. DOn't bother replying, I am so close to 200, I am going for it.

Family and all that, yeah I know.

Well, then. I think that the posts harping for mouse to get his rodent butt in gear need to stop ;)

3dSapere Posted - 01/07/2003 : 18:29:46
I don't know Mouse well enough to speak for him, but I believe the people who do will tell you he's a very busy man.

:\
na85 Posted - 01/07/2003 : 16:23:41
Is mouse a busy guy? I'm just curious when (if ever) we can expect a new version of the mod. 'Cause if he's a busy guy I say give him a break and try I'lls mod. If not, let's hold out for the next version of MM.

3dSapere Posted - 01/05/2003 : 23:03:16
I would like that too Atriedis, but you're right: it's up to the administrators.

:\
Atriedis Posted - 01/05/2003 : 22:48:57
just run the idea by him, tell him you'll install it (if you have time, and want to spend your time on it, that is) and see how it goes for a few days, and if everyone likes it, then leave it. if we all hate it then put back the half-mod. just another $0.02

I'd like to... But that's Mouses choice not mine.

Atriedis Posted - 01/05/2003 : 17:40:27
uh... why dont you just try illwills mod for a few days lister? its better than whats up there now. just a suggestion.

I think he still has it

Gonff Posted - 01/02/2003 : 14:26:04
What ever happened to Ill Wills Mod....that was pretty much a recreation of MM from before the 87MB Patch (before everything went to hell)...

na85 Posted - 01/02/2003 : 14:12:32
Atar? lol

I use light energy now, too. I would carry a blaster if the use of one didnt impact my flight capability so much. However. Maybe all the stupid noobs who don't know blasters punch thrugh shields deserve a RTFM

I certainly hope that (y)our modding isn't affected by n00bs who don't know how to play the game. Appealing to the lowest common denominator seems a bit too much like the public school system to me. Design the mod with skilled, non-n00b players in mind (by this I don't mean target it towards the uber-l33t).

Atriedis Posted - 01/01/2003 : 18:17:39
i disagree with na85, I want to be invicible! lol not really, but the i have gotten much better at the game since the lowered shield power. i use light energy mostly now, and occasionally i still use shield, and i find if im careful, im almost as powerful as i used to be with the old shields, sure, i cant take on 10 guys at once like i used to, but i can in light energy now ;) i think the shields should be upped just a tad, not too much, and that the boosters shuld be the old school boosters from months ago, if it is at all possible to mod it like that. just my $0.02

That's what the blaster is for. Any half-competent player can kill a shielded jug with a blaster, regardless of shielding.

Yes, however it can be difficult. I can manage, but I was referring to everyone else. (I usually have to point this fact of blasters-vs-shields to my team online.. most don't know 'till they see it or we tell them. ;)

.. Back on topic..

I suggested this in one of the general discussion threads on the public forum, however I thought it might bear repeating.

There has been a lot of discussion of teamwork vs boosters on the server. I agree on the point that the boosters were WAY too much post-patch.. (to prove my point: I rarely cap, but I made it across a 1.5km map to return a flag in 17 seconds using those boosters).

It occured to me: why not just degrade booster strength a bit. Basically, change it to a utility instead of a dependancy. I.e. make it good for helping heavies get up onto higher ledges/floating bases, escaping mortars, and perhaps a very short-term, quick escape. This would solve the teamwork problem, because we'd still have heavy and assault armors dependant upon teamwork to get where they were going, en' masse.

all imho of course.

I have to agree with Pisn, although I'm pretty sure I said that somewhere already.

-OR-
Put the shields back to the way they were with the classic physics and just decrease the energy drain on the blaster to make it more practical to carry?

Slayer_Allen Posted - 12/19/2002 : 22:20:21
Not a serious consideration, but is it possible to slow the missiles way down and make their range huge? Eventually bombers would be being chased by 10-15 slow missiles. If they ever stopped for too long...<BAM>. Of course, that may get laggy, and the warning noise would drive the pilots and gunners crazy...

Edit: Hey look, now I am the voice of unreason-ableness.

The shield recharge time is too slow right now. seems to be half what it used to be. Keep the juiced up blasters though to counter the shields.

That's what I thought

Slayer_Allen Posted - 12/19/2002 : 19:13:40
Well, in one game before the server went down for awhile, I was playing as a med shielder trying to kill that damn Holykill and his sidekick Sketchy (or visa versa), who were both playing as snipers. They managed to kill me pretty quickly even with the shields form a distance, ie. one shot would take my shields and half my life...The sniper rifle IS awfully strong in this mod...the way it SHOULD be. Look at the characters heads. THere is hardly any protection. A laser to the head should kill you, shouldn't it?

a chance to defend my comments?

Lister, I never wanted to be invincible. But like it or not (sorry sketch) the shields recharge just a bit too slowly and drain too quickly to be worthwhile. For outdoor maps where there is room to maneuver this is not bad, provided you don't fly. But for indoor maps where battles are tight and constrained to corridors the shields just don't pass the test. A shielded light as of now will experience a total negation of the advantage given that player in the form of flight. This is why the light was given better jets than the medium and jug, so that players traded strength for maneuverabilty and flight capacity when they suited up in scout. As it stands now, in a firefight, lights are hard pressed to break 35m altitude.

Also, I understand one issue with the laser rifle is that people were getting 1-hit kill headshots on shielded lights. Problem. In medium, with the new shields at roughly 50% and Hits at 100, I got sniped in one shot. Dunno what caused that but I personally blame those shields.

Please understand I'm not asking for the old ones back (I agree, they were way too strong), I'm just hoping we can strike a balance between the two "versions".
