Being from where I am, I've had considerable experience with those affiliated with the various modes of the green.. (in fact, we've got a few world-recognized strains, apparently, named after counties near here in Ok.)

Anyway, though it isn't exactly incentive for productivity, the weed is not as harmful as the government would make it out to be. The most harmful effect, by FAR, is the consequenses (sp?) of getting caught.

Harmful to lungs? yes.. but those that smoke it likely already smoke cigarrettes too. Heath insurance would treat both in the same class.

Harmful b/c it incites illicit behaviour? (as certain commercials would seem to suggest now..) Not that I've seen. Women are in more danger from being drunk, or getting a date-rape drug slipped into their drink.

Hell, the only reason most ppl are afraid of it is because they are told it is wrong by their churches, government, and peers.. *shrugs*

at least, such is reality here.

I say go for legal but controlled - (like porno is here.. gotta go to Texas to buy anything decent.. rofl) -- 18-21 or over, no smoke and driving, not in public places... much like alcohol (which imho effects your senses worse, b/c of the major disorientation and the usually social atmosphere of imbibement).

Please forgive the horrid spelling and vocab.. insomniac night last night, ehhehe. ;)

my 2 bits. (almost a byte, woohoo!)

i personally dont care if a dude wants to get married to a emu what ever turns your crank hank... not sure why people get all fussy when they talk about gays and crap... but i find the pro Cannabis and the con Cannabis debate very interesting everyone seems to have a very interesting view on it...oh yea dont anyone go marry an emu just cause i said so lol

Cabbit Posted - 12/16/2002 : 19:45:35
Food for thought: The same people who campaigned against legalized marijuana here in the state of Sin also fought for an amendment to legally declare that in Nevada, marriages between the same sex are completely invalid and an affront to the spirit of marriage, no matter where they're made. Ah, the fun of a Republican state. Strom Thurmond would be proud.

(Incidentally, the legalized pot was defeated, and the amendment to basicly say "Ew! No! Bad!" to Gays passed soundly; guess really -were- afraid of the 'Gay Agenda' being forced on them.)

Heh i just read in the paper the other day that they are voteing on a law that will decriminalize weed in canada. So basically what they are proposing is if u get caught with a certain ammount of weed they dont care (as much as a sandwich bag full) but anymore than that u will get a small fine but no chance at any trouble with the law..... you could be trucking a flatbed full of weed across canada and would only get a fine for it lol...but im sure if they tryed to smuggle it across the border they would be faceing charges

I really don't care to get into this discussion but this could get as age old as should people rape or not in mousemod. Speaking from personal experience, which isn’t much cause I have never smoked a joint or a bong or a blunt (for the really cool people), I due drink though so I am not a boy scout. When I drink, however, I do not beat up on my wife or drive intoxicated or call my friends name or get into fights. I have worked with the people who have however smoked pot on their lunch breaks at work. Due to this fact I do not know what the experience is like after smoking pot but I can imagine by the aboved described, from all the people who posted, that you feel relaxed and damn sure you do not care about a thing in the world. Now I know the workplace could make it against their rules to smoke pot at work but pot is a lot harder to smell on the breath then alcohol, you can smell alcohol on someone a lot easier if they have had a drink. Let me just say this, people who smoke pot at work or after smoking pot at parties or just having too many drinks at any time aren't worth the ground they stand on ( please notice I am not just knocking marijuana but alcohol as well). So it is true what all you guys said, too much to quote from the above people, Marijuana does not invoke harmful behavior but does invoke laziness, and really do bosses or us in general need more laziness on their job sites or in the regular society? I don't care if they legalize it or not but, I can see why they don't. Crap people around me are getting lazier by the year I mean for god sakes look at the lazy @sses who leave up their Christmas lights year round "cause it is too hard or too much work to take them down." (Oh Boo hoo) Besides no one has “died” of marijuana smoking because it is not readily available like cigarettes so they can't smoke it as frequently as a cigarette so there hasn't been the extensive/lengthy study done on it. Another reason I am not a big cigarette fan my lungs aren't that great to begin with to be able to handle cigarette smoke now I would have to deal with the heavier second hand pot smoke? Cigarette's stink as it is and marijuana stinks even more why the hell do you want to smell like marijuana crap much less alone a cigarette. America, the country, isn't an old enough country and we are not, as Americans, responsible enough to handle the legalization of marijuana. People around here are always looking to blame someone else or pass the buck easily, crap most parents expect teachers to raise their kids for them in school, thus passing the buck, and not except any blame for their kids behavior. Most parents try to blame violent video games, TV shows, movies, crappy gangster rap music and drug and alcohol companies for their kids behavior, never once looking at themselves for the blame of not sitting down with their kids and talking to them ever about the effects of the music/media/drugs. Marijuana will only cause more trouble because most parents don't stop/control their kids from under age drinking or smoking much less pregnancies (which is a whole different topic). Which leads to the fact as a country we can not control our habits with alcohol how could we control pot smoking habits, America just isn't as old as other countries we do not have the responsibility for it. Other countries already think we, Americans, are lazy as it is, marijuana will only add to it. Now do not get me wrong I have laughed at stoners and think when movies portray stoners and potheads it is funny but, crap I live in the real world and to legalize one more drug that isn't that "harmful" is insane. It will only give people one more reason to be lazy. If want the facts on marijuana here is the link http://www.theantidrug.com/drug_info/drugs_marijuana.html and yes it does have side effects pay particular attention to the fact that marijuana smoking is possibly 3-5 times greater on the lungs than cigarettes........I am done Thank you I do not want to argue about this topic it is as old as time and it is stupid to argue about this due to the fact it is out of our hands. Please a Note to the "parents" out there I did say "most parents" when I talked about parenting habits so this is to not generalize all parents so as not to offend the responsible/caring parents. Did I forget anyone? Am I being politically correct enough for everyone good I hope so. All this yelling in the forums and “my idea is better than your idea” is getting to be old/weak, really now I personally save arguing for family at the holidays….oops I am sorry you guys are my family and it is the holiday’s stupid me. Thank you,....H_T

I agree with Mallak.

There are 10 different types of people in this world... those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I live in Humblodt County California. We're a damn feature in High Times magazine. Here are some *things* concerning pot.
1. How many guys have come home stoned and beat up their wives?
2. Who cares if your in a smoking-pot and driving accident? You're gonna be going 4 miles per hour.
3. Phillip Morris ALREADY has a patent on marijuana ciggarettes. Already. It's done. They have it. It'll be a cash crop.
4. Are you more comfortable with your kid taking up smoking pot, or tobbacco?
5. I have never personally seen anyone better off for having smoked pot. I have never personally seen anyone better off for having smoked tobbaco.
6. I did read somewhere that pot is LESS addictive than alcohol and tobacco. Don't know that one for sure, but seems about right to me.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that most people who smoke pot also smoke cigarettes.
