Every once in a while, I find myself on a team with a guy controlling a turret in order to be a royal pain in the arse. From what I know, the only way to find this person is to go into observer and search for the guys that aren't moving.
Is there any way to make people controlling turrets easier to pick out? I was thinking that, if it isn't too difficult, have the name of the turret renamed while there is someone in it. you know, a base turret gets renamed to base turret/krusty or something.
If that isn't possible, it would still be great to find some easier way of spotting them.

Look at the turret and cycle weapons. It will show you on your screen who's controlling it.
From the FAQ -
"Turret Gunner Identification
Your Warrior armor has been equipped with a new Turret Gunner Identification system that allows you to see who is using a particular turret. Simply point your weapon at a turret, and cycle (change) weapons. This will identify the gunner on the turret."

once in awhile I get SA'd by Listy (thanks) and the only time I've ever kicked someone was because they were a cloaker and on the opposite team on Short Circuit. I owned him as a gen defender and he switched to our team and used the ELF turret on me. Thank goodness PHX Mouse added the turret controlling script to MouseMod... *Gong*
not to say i won't gong anyone who's offending someone else... just haven't had any other bad things happen while i've been SA. but, as a non-SA... i did successfully start a vote to kick for someone who was cussing up a storm and didn't heed our request to clean up his lingo. It was a unanimous vote :D

And that's the trick - if players would pay attention in the game and vote, admins wouldn't always be needed as a majority of it is easily taken care of.

but we all know thats never gona happen. too many new players, or players who dont care play for the vote system to work with anything but kicks. anything else never gets passed (even votes to enable TD when its turned off, while the same newbs who are not voteing are crying because they are getting TKed).

Oh, THATS why that popup says "controlling turret - none" sometimes after I deploy a spider clamp. I always thought that was some freaky error that occurred while changing weapons when a turret is still deploying.
Now that I've got that imbedded in my mind, I'm going to have lots of fun vote kicking morons!

Cobalt, I kick more people than Lister, daily.
....oh, he was spamming....vote...kick....done. I now have a lil notepad here, specifically for the names of between game spammers. When someone I know is on the other team, he starts voted for the spammers I can't get. Vote-Happy.

Why your vote to change the map will more than likely never pass:
1. Percent of doinks playing Tribes2 that have no clue what an <insert> key is for and generally hit "Y" or "N" when a vote prompt is displayed on their screen: 30%
2. Percent of doinks playing Tribes2 that will vote for or against a particular request just to try and screw up the results: 10%
3. Percent of doinks playing Tribes2 that are far too busy shouting "Repair our Vehicle Pad" so they can joy ride around solo in your team bomber: 10%
4. Percent of doinks playing Tribes2 that are hiding cloaked behind your base and are afraid that casting a vote may in some way kill them: 10%
As you can see... The odds are stacked against you. Every once in a while when the planets are in line you may just find that your vote will pass. Enjoy those sacred moments.

Interestingly enough I've done some cross checking on a relational database and found some interesting corelations between Tribes 2 voters and the last USA Presidential election:
Group #1 were all residents of the state of Florida and tried to vote for AL Gore but screwed up and cast a vote for Pat Buchanan.
Group #2 all wrote in "none of the above" to be clever.
Group #3 were all members of the Libertarian Party.
Group #4 did not vote and stayed in their basement with their tin foil hat on.
