Paintball, I'm a weekly player.
I play with ~20 people from the casino I work at. Some are management, one is even my shift super. So we're playin for like 2 hours in the woods, and I spot this pile of limbs, so I physically dive into it feet first and prey not to get skewered, I make itin great, I'm leanin up against a big redwood stump, and I have total cover except for where I'm aiming, which is a good 50% cover, and lots of camo. I camp, I just sit there, because the way I'm pointing is where the other team would have to circle to flank the bulk of our team. It's really a perfect spot, best I've ever found. So I camp it for a while. Balls are flyin in here and there, but nothin aimed, so... no one knows I'm there. A gun circles the stump, and it's coming from our side, so I think, hold, don't shoot... but the guy starts to turn, like he is gonna face our teams side, so I think ok... he made it around the front, and is now gonna use the stump for cover. Well... that's fine, I'm silent, he can chill, I can chill. I don't actually know who he is, and shoot first isn't always the best policy. but as he is turning, I realize, that in turning, the gun is pointing straight at me. Well, now I'm not gonna chill... I won't get shot while I can still have a clean kill. FAP FAP FAP. "Hit!" he walks... he also hapens to be on my team... and since I'm pretty close to the camp I can hear him going, "damn, I still don't know what got me." I know this spot is now my favorte place for the next round or two, till people catch on. I move out, and we manage to clear the field.
2 round later, my team is back on the side where I can get to this pile before the other team can see me. And I do, I hunker in this hole, and I let my whole team know to stay clear of the stump, I'll cover this side alone...I get looks...because I'm not the quickest guy on the team, not by long shot. Anyhow, they go with it, and there I am, calm, breathing slow, not sweating, mask not condensing on the inside (it never fogs, but it will collect moisture.) I am the bush, I am the tree. I am ... gonna screw the flank squad.
First sign is a few errant balls fly in, nothin to flinch about, they are trying to flush out game. Well, I'm not game, I'm the hunter here. I feel a branch press down on my foot, obviously someone just walked on it. Keep silent. Take the pain. Branch lets up, an i see my first goon. He moves up, exactly as I had planned 2 rounds earlier. He leans a shoulder on the tree (mistake in use of cover by the way). He leans a shoulder on the tree, he is about 5-7 feet from the end of my M98. POP POP POP, head, shoulder, lowerback. bounce, bounce, break perfectly. I freeze, he walk the way he came and yells "Hit!". Then I hear another voice, very close. It's Paul. Paul is what happens to a hyperactive, friendless, kid who moons the neighborhood and pretends to have night-vision, and acid blood. Only Paul is 40, and happens to be the table-games manager at the casino. So I hear Paul tell my target to turn around, and then there's a momant of silence, then paul goes "your not hit, get back in, where did it come from?" (paul wiped his back, cheating, and weak), well , this kid only felt the headshot, and says it came from "that way", (insert pointing over the bush I'm in). Paul just told this guy, who I am 100% sure is dead, to get back in. Fine, they will stay lower, and continue to flank, one phantom sniper can't have too huge of avisual range, right? So the Zombie and Paul continue, the Zombie steers clear of the stump, choosing a farther one, but Paul, being the smart guy he is, chooses to move to the exact position his ressurected teammate was standing when he got waxed. I can't say I was suprised, This was a good stump for cover. But Paul isn't as cautious as Lazerous and he is only there for about a second, and starts moving out, well, Paul has money, and is hyper, so he went out and bought a full setup with and Angel and the whole shabang, this guy has been playing like 2 months, and acts like the grand huzzah. I can't let him get behind my team, because he can unload a lot of paint fast. I lean forward so I can see him as he is moving out of my visual range. FAPFAPFAPFAP. This is at about... 4 feet. I lean back into the hold and the branches envelope me like a shroud. I'm still breathing slow, and I see his eyes as he spins to see where he got hit from. He realizes from the rustling branches, that he is standing, basically, on top of me. He yells, loudly "Jesus, YOU DON'T SHOOT SOMEONE AT TWO FXCKING FEET!!" and looks in the bush, I can see his eyes, and I know, he never even saw me. Sorry Paul, your captain "jump on the band wagon", and when this issue of point-blanking came up, you jumped on with the veteran of the group, who said "Don't bother telling me surrender, I'll spin on you and shoot." I have played many ways, surrender, no surrender, I don't care, you want to surrender, good, saves me balls. So it was decided that there is no surrender. Exept when kids are on the field, or girls who ask for it, (3 of the 5 don't surrender ever). So again, I'm hiding, silent, and I can hear the camp, Paul is cussing and whining and ranting. I'm grinning under my mask, still motionless. Well, as it turns out, there wasa third flanker that got terrified and backtracked, and the Zombie got waxed 5 minutes later. Everyone is in, and I still ahven't moved, Paul is askin "were u in the bush?were u in the bush?" no's all around, (my team knows exactly where i was, they say nothing. I yell "Game?" someone replies the same (-?+). I crawl out and stand up. Paul starts the whining and I pull off the mask, and put up a finger, and cut him off. "You were behind "No Surrender" 100%, I don't want to hear your crap. If i had said it, you would have spun and loaded the bush with out any hesitation."
...Silence in the camp...
"You got owned. Even after you sent your dead teammate back in."
I pack up to leave, cause that was my last game, two teammates come up and tell me "Dude, we weren't gonna tell him who it was, you should have crawled out, circled around, came from a different direction, and denied it." All I could think of was "Yeah, good game. See ya Tuesday... or when ever you work next."

Nice..... :) I used to do alot of paintball back in college. Sniping was the one thing I was good at. 13 kills for me in one game of 20 vs 20. They never saw it coming either. They were all hit in the back.
ahhh the good ole' days.

my flatline is due in on thursday.
can we say +150 feet??? not that i need it, my eyes arent that good, and most of my kills come from stealth and close proximity. but it will be nice to give covering fire from backfield.

A lot of my old paintball friends used to have model 98 w/ silly flatline barrels. Then everyone got jobs and upgraded to Angels and Cockers. I have a 2002 Cold Fusion Cocker myself, which owns by the way...
Hey mallak, have you ever played speedball? You would get pwned.
And noone complains about getting shot point-blank. When you get bunkered, they will light you up with like two dozen balls in less than a second, all at point blank. If you thought one or two hurt...

We played a game once in November, up near Rochester NY. Most of the balls never broke. Too damn cold. We all went home with the worst welt and bruises ever.

yeah, that whole shooting around bunkers feature IS pretty silly. so is using an auto-feed, and shooting it upside-down, because when those balls come full speed from straight above into your bunker... sillyness.
yeah i have played speedball. flatliners are for frontfield cover from backfield. it's handy to not let them get all their guys to the first set of bunkers. so what if you get owned in speedball? thats not really what it's for. that's like giving a sniper rifle to a man about to march ten paces and shoot. not that it can't be used effectivly, it's a tool, just like any other. I'll see if i can get you a picture of the BrassEagle Talon our airsmith customized for speedball. goofy bastard.
i'm gonna go with... your wrong, people DO complain... and i make fun of them

lol, well I guess. But the guys I play with don't complain, as getting bunkered is an every-game occurrence. We are just used to it I guess. I play with (not for) team element, I don't know if you have heard of them... They usually place average in national and international competitions so you probably haven't heard of them, even if you do keep up with paintball. They're sponsored by JT and Bob Long. They just got new guns last summer, the new Intimidators, and they freaking own. I will never by another thousand dollar gun when I can get better for half the price. I'm tellen ya man, if you ever go electronic get a Bob Long Intimidator.
And that customized talon sounds all too familiar. My friend Beau did the same thing back when we used to play pickup games in the woods. At this one game he totally pwned the other team with his supped up wal-mart gun, it was the funniest thing ever... And the other guys were completely humiliated.

Unfortunatly, paintball is expensive... My setup is probably worth about $1,300, and thats not to bad compared to some of the other setups I have seen. I have a lot of aftermarket parts on my marker, but this is the closest thing I can find to mine: http://www.supercocker.com/markers/grey_gloss_lg.jpg
Maybe I'll upload some pics and show you my gun.

That is a pretty sweet gun... I've got an airsoft pistol, but that's it, hehe. Go to backyardartillery.com, they have really cool rubber band guns, lol. They have a rubber band gatling gun...insanity.

You can get airsoft paintball pellets, actually. They're pretty cheap, and it doesn't leave big welts. Not as fun as actual paintball, but you can shoot in a smaller area without worry of painting the neighboring houses.

A few years ago some kids at my school paintballed a bunch of drunk natives one night. They caught one of the kids editing the video in school. All of them were expelled from the district and fined, and the oldest one was also sent to jail for a few months.
